Last ride was in scenic area of Race Track. Ride as no udder.
As nobody brought sofa so we had to ride the bikes. We (Tim, Tom, Niel and Daniel (his son), Nick, Brady and me) set of on graded road between the jebels in opposite direction as the race, it intersects race single track and by doing big U we came to race single track section after few hundred of meters. As it was slightly down hill we had a ball. Then we climbed “The Rock” (still opposite dir as during race) and ascend from this side feels much easier. We downhilled and took route behind the jebels – now with 3 newly constructed houses – and followed the graded road almost to Quryat highway, but just before it we picked single track which took us back between the jebels, via wadi and back on race track from 4 years ago and back to the cars. Here we picked Johnny who came half an hr late (but he called so it was expected). Other people were resting in the shade of cars and it looked like they had enough. No wonder as my computer was showing this:
Boys were still displaying smile but most of them looked like this just after first 45 mins of ride:
It took quite persuasion to make them to set for another loop. Nick stayed in shadow of jebel as he felt overheated. So for next lap we went. Same start but after short uphill we had to fix Brady’s chain. Back to racetrack and all combination of singletracks from previous races.
This loop we did was slightly shorter, we stopped in the wadi below the tree just 1 km from the cars and we went to see how Nick is doing. He was ok so he joined us, but for change Daniel did not feel that great so he stayed to guard the family Ford.
Off we went for 3rd lap – now we took race track normal direction but continued on single tracks which brought us to village back gardens.
We continued and passed football pitch and thru open plain down the wadi and had a rest in tree shadow, when some locals in huge lifted Jeep crawled around us, little child jumping on front seat. It was significantly cooler now, off we went again.
Rocky wadi spat us on Quryat highway which we followed for 2-300m then took right turn up the next valley. Few weeks back it was like green Switzerland – now it looks like dry African bush.
We made final few kilometers via scenic jebels, back to the cars way before sunset, approx. 27 km covered. Well done everybody wrestling that almost 50dgr temperature… another good ride.
