MTB ride 13.10.2011 Nahda2 - Story

“Strong” riders started at approx. 14:15. We in group of 4 (Mike, Tom and Biagio) managed only 11 kms and we were back to cars just around 15:00 to be ready for normal ride. Anyway, we had good exercise and pushed on the way back speed around 30 kmph as it is slight decline.

Main group reached – after some time of waiting for late comers – number of 16 riders. Bob took group out and few of us waited for Hassan and few others faffing around, but few kms into ride we all regrouped and soon we get to highest point of ride and enjoyed view over wadi.

On the way Tim was enjoying his new “coal toy” full carbon frame Lapierre. On one of rocky hills we tried to get some good pics but u know automatic cameras – we had to repeat it few times to get decent photo till our super-model’s exhaustion, however this is the shot:

From here starts interesting combination of single track and graded road sneaking over rocky terrain, which we enjoyed and in progress we passed bedu settlement, waived at kids and continue on new asphalt road. Here in the middle of the road parked mean maroon Corvette with several photo rigs around it – so why we all drooled above it, Bob showed off with several comments, because, actually he has the one too, lucky bugger. As car was same color as my bike I tried to swap them, but guy just did not feel tempted enough to enjoy ride on mt bike and give up Corvette, surprisingly.

But it was time to go so off we went, took the graded road which took us on several ridges and valleys on the foothill of mountains.

Eventually before the end of the ride we passed football pitch but refused to have match “bikers vs. locals”, had some laugh with guys watching the game and arrived to cars just before dark. Biagio prepared for us another entertainment – his battery went flat but we are ready for everything – after my jump leads failed, Bob took his out and we made his engine running in no time. Good ride, approx. 25 kms, we who took “strong” ride 36kms.
